Croatia travel guide - Information for your holiday in Croatia
Croatia is rich in rocky bays and pebble beaches, there are not so many sandy beaches. Even if rocky beaches are not as comfortable for sunbathing as sandy beaches, they are particularly attractive thanks to the spectacular look of the mountainous landscape surrounding them.
There are so many different beaches in Croatia to choose from, so it’s really difficult to make the right choice. The water is clean and crystal clear almost everywhere, no matter which beach you pick.
If you prefer lively beaches with music, beach parties and discos, Zrce beach near Novalja (on the island of Pag) might be a suitable place for you. If you travel with kids you might like the lagoon of „Stella Maris“ in Istria which is particularly shallow with few waves. Baska, on Krk, has a beautiful 2 km long pebble beach which is quite crowdy in high season but also very suitable for families. The most popular sandy beach of Croatia is located in Lopar, on the island of Rab. The so-called paradise beach is perfect for families with small children as the water is so shallow that after walking into the sea for 200 m your knees are still above the water level. Water temperature there usually is quite high, too.
