Croatia travel guide - Information for your holiday in Croatia
Croatia has a long camping tradition. There are lots of beautiful campsites along the Dalmatian coast. Almost all Croatian campsites are located directly at the beach since the Adriatic coast was already popular among campers when the camping trend in the rest of Europe started.
Although there might be different types of campers, they all have one thing in common: their wish to spend the most precious time of the year in freedom, surrounded by nature.
Croatia offers camping sites of small and large size enclosed in beautiful landscapes. Beautiful bays, beaches, pine forests and romantic towns along the coast as well as mountains, rivers, lakes and green forests in the hinterland attract thousands of campers.
If you prefer to travel without your own caravan but still want to enjoy the camping atmosphere, there are around 40 campsites offering mobile homes for rent.
Most camping sites are open from May till October. However, there are few which are open throughout the year. There are campsites of different categories, from one until four stars depending on their equipment and standard.
In total, there are approx. 300 official campsites in Croatia, most of them in Istria and Dalmatia. Since camping is very popular you should reserve in time, particularly if you plan to travel in peak season.
